Letter 12

Hi folks, the 23rd of April always sticks in my mind. It’s St George’s Day, as I’m sure you know, but the reason I remember it is because it’s Shakespeare’s birthday, one of the very few things I learned in my early days of studying English and Drama. In fact, it is believed that Shakespeare was born on the 23rd April and 52 year later, he also died on 23rd April. Three of my family members have birthdays in April: obviously a prestigious month!  Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth celebrated her 95th birthday during the week on Wednesday 21st April. The Queen would not have felt much like celebrating as she is still in mourning for the loss of her husband, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, who just missed his 100th birthday by a month, but I’m glad to say that our own Agnes Storie celebrated her 100th birthday on 20th April.

Here is a photograph of her with her Card from the Queen. She made it!

As you can see in the background, Agnes got loads of cards from her family and friends, and flowers from the Church. And she still has that shock of red hair for which she is well known. Happy Birthday, Agnes!

To everyone who celebrates a birthday this month, I hope you have a happy birthday too.

Meanwhile, keep safe, keep praying, and keep the faith.

God bless,

Ann
